猫用ノミ・マダニ駆除薬「ブラベクト®スポット猫用」 日本における製造販売承認取得のお知らせ

株式会社インターベット（以下「IVKK」）は、5月16日付けで、猫用ノミ・マダニ駆除剤「ブラベクト®スポット猫用」（以下「ブラベクト®スポット猫用」）について、農林水産省から製造販売承認を取得しましたことをお知らせいたします。

「ブラベクト®スポット猫用」は、IVKKが所属するMerck & Co., Inc., Kenilworth, N.J., U.S.A.が開発した動物用医薬品で、猫のノミ、マダニに対し速効性に優れ、さらに、殺虫効果は、通常1か月毎に投薬する既存製品より長く、3か月にわたって持続するという特長を有しています。すでに、EU（欧州連合）で2016年5月、米国において2016年7月より販売開始されております。

その有効成分であるフルララネルは、日産化学株式会社が発明し、Merck & Co., Inc., Kenilworth, N.J., U.S.A.に原薬として供給されている新たなイソキサゾリン系化合物で、添付文書に記載されている通り、猫に対して高い安全性を有しています。

国内の動物医療におけるノミ・マダニ駆除剤分野は、毎年成長している領域であり、その市場規模は約140億円となっています。ノミやマダニが猫に寄生した場合、皮膚炎、貧血、栄養障害などの病害を引き起こすことに加え、近年、ペットに寄生するマダニが媒介するSFTS（重症熱性血小板減少症候群）などの疾患について、人における死亡被害も報告されていることから、マダニの確実な駆除が望まれています。

「ブラベクト®スポット猫用」は、①1回の投与でノミおよびマダニに3か月間効果を発揮、 ②有効成分が血液を介して全身の組織に分布し、速く、確実に効く、 ③投与しやすいキャップ一体型ピペット といった特長を有し、愛猫にやさしく、より確実、より簡便に投薬でき、服薬コンプライアンスを高めることができます。IVKKは、本剤の販売を通じ、家族の一員である猫と飼い主との絆をより深くすることに貢献していきたいと考えております。なお、「ブラベクト®スポット猫用」は、動物病院でのみ処方される薬剤です。

Intervet K.K. receives Manufacturing and Marketing
Authorization in Japan for new ecto-paraciticide
BRAVECTO® SPOT for cats

Intervet K.K., a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc., Kenilworth, N.J., U.S.A.(“Merck”) announced that as of 16th May, 2018, Japan Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries granted manufacturing and marketing authorization for the new ecto-parasiticide BRAVECTO® (fluralaner) SPOT for cats.

BRAVECTO® SPOT for cats is a veterinary product which has been developed by Merck. It provides a quick and persistent flea and tick killing activity, lasting for 3 months – significantly longer than the once a month treatment options currently available. BRAVECTO® spot-on for cats was launched in the EU in May 2016 and in the USA in July 2016.

Fluralaner, the active substance of BRAVECTO® spot-on for cats, was invented and has been supplied to Merck by Nissan Chemical Corporation, Ltd. Fluralaner is a new compound belongs to the isoxazoline group, and has an excellent safety profile for cats, as indicated on it’s label.

The Japanese Veterinary ecto-parasiticide market size is estimated to be more than USD 124million. Significant market growth in recent years is in part contributed to the emergence of the fatal human disease – Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS). Being transmitted by ticks, SFTS raised the awareness and importance of effective tick-control in cats. Ticks and fleas cause various disease conditions of cats such as dermatitis and anemia and malnutrition .
